Frameline

Frameline 47, San Francisco International LGBTQ+ Film Festival

The LEATHER & LGBTQ Cultural District is proud to partner with Frameline47 in the presentation of two films, selected from the over 100 films that are part of this 10-day, two-city festival.  Our films are these:

Old Narcissus
(Japan)
Sunday 06/18 @ 6:00pm, Roxie Theater
Dir. Suyoshi Shoji 2023 (in Japanese)
With colorful imagery that mixes the surreal with the erotic, Old Narcissus brings together two men at vastly different turning points: elderly children’s book author Yamazaki
and perpetually bored twentysomething sex worker Leo. They accompany each other on a surprising journey, where the complicated history of queer rights in Japan serves as backdrop for an intergenerational tale of gay life and cultural taboos.
See it at the Roxie Theater Sunday 06/18 @ 6:00pm,
or in the Frameline Digital Screening Room, June 24 – July 2

Pornomelancholia
(Argentina | France | Brazil | Mexico),
Monday 06/19 @ 9:45pm, Roxie Theater
Dir. Manuel Abramovich 2022
(in Spanish & English)
Lalo decides to audition for an adult movie to make some money and escape the tedium of his factory job. With his striking face and dark mustache, he quickly finds himself cast as Zapata in an overheated porno retelling of the Mexican Revolution. But Lalo’s rising star as an explicit performer does not tame his loneliness. Director Manuel Abramovich slyly blends fiction and documentary in this artful, alluring portrait of sex in the age of OnlyFans.

Heron Arts was founded in 2013 by Mark Slee, an active member of San Francisco’s creative community, organizing events since the mid-2000s. He is joined in 2015 by director Tova Lobatz, who is pursuing ambitious programming that encompasses installations and experiential, interactive environments, alongside traditional gallery exhibitions. Collectively they hope to provide San Francisco with a fresh outlook on contemporary beauty in the arts.

Oasis Arts supports artists through collaboration, development, and mentorship by providing tools, venue space, resources and equipment to enable LGBTQ and BIPOC artists to create innovative and diverse art.

Partnering with Oasis Nightclub and leveraging the seven year history of the queer arts scene. Oasis Arts will elevate diversity and bring vibrant art to the community by embracing participation across generations, cultural backgrounds, and individual expressions.  They are committed to uplifting the voices of the historically suppressed, disenfranchised, and forgotten LGBTQ and BIPOC community by providing a platform to present artistic expression.
