Golden Dildeaux Season Launches!

A fun beer bust at the SF Eagle on March 12, 2023 launched the campaigns of dozens of candidates for coveted, cheeky, Golden Dildeaux Awards.

You can vote for your favorite candidates here.  Vote as often as you like, at $1 per vote (proceeds to PRC Emergency Assistance Fund).  Voting closes at 5 pm on April 21, and the Woody Award Show happens on April 22.  Full info is here.

 

SFAC Artist in Residence Program

The San Francisco Arts Commission (SFAC) Galleries has announced an Artist in Residence (AIR) opportunity in partnership with the San Francisco Public Library (SFPL).

The purpose of this Request for Qualifications is to identify four artists to engage with the SFPL staff and their distinct programs. The selected four artists will spend 10-weeks in residence at the SFPL conducting research around its history, programs, services, and inner workings.

Each residency will culminate in the creation of a new project that is responsive to the artist’s experience at the SFPL.

This opportunity is open to San Francisco residents only. The deadline to apply is Friday, March 24, 2023 by 11:59pm.

General Information about Committee Meetings and Membership

Arts and Culture Committee – third Thursdays, 6-7pm

The next meeting of the Arts and Culture Committee will be Thursday, April 16. This committee advocates for creative activity in the Cultural District, organizes events, performances, public art, and gallery shows, and explores opportunities to attract and support leather and LGBTQ artists in the Cultural District.  Please contact the Arts and Culture Committee chair for more info!

Communications Committee – second Thursdays of the month from 6-7pm

The next meeting of the Communications Committee will be on Thursday, May 14, at 6pm. The Zoom link for the meeting is Communications Committee Meeting.  This committee handles the Cultural District’s social media and digital presence, public relations, branding, event promotion, and outreach to clubs, organizations, and individuals.  Contact the Communications Committee chair for more info!

Membership Committee – second Mondays, 6-7pm

The next meeting of the Membership Committee will take place on Monday, April 13, at 6 pm.  Join us via zoom at Membership Committee.
 

Diversity Committee – first Thursdays, 6-7pm

The next meeting of the Diversity Committee is scheduled for Thursday, May 7. This committee works to ensure diversity of membership, programs and participants, and to promote diversity, inclusion and equity in our organization and our community. Fundraising Committee – select Tuesdays, 6-7pm

This committee plans the District’s fundraising events, LeatherWalk and the Golden Dildeaux Awards.  Its work also includes planning other fundraising events and campaigns, exploring grant opportunities, and creating materials to generate donations to support the work of the organization.  Please contact the Fundraising Committee chair for more info.

Land Use Committee second Mondays, 4-5pm

The April meeting of the Land Use Committee has been canceled. We look forward to seeing you Monday, May 11, at 4 pm. Join us via zoom at Land Use Committee

 This committee track construction projects and developments in the District and working with developers and city agencies to mitigate the effects of gentrification.

The Land Use Committee also works to preserve culturally and historically significant buildings, businesses, organizations, traditions, arts, events, and aesthetics, to protect tenants from displacement, and to promote affordable housing in the District.  Contact the Land Use Committee chair for more info.

Safety Committee – first Mondays, 6-7pm 

The next meeting of the Safety Committee Meeting will be on Monday, May 4, at 6pm. We will be finalizing plans for the public Safety Meeting taking place on Tuesday, May 5, at 6 pm, at Folsom Street Community Center.

The Safety Committee works with local residents—including kinksters, sex workers, and others across the spectrum of our diverse community—to promote safety, share resources, and foster strong district-wide connections. The committee organizes safety and tech-related resources into an accessible online hub, keeps neighbors informed about upcoming events, and invites broad participation in conversations on public safety. Through inclusive outreach and relationship-building, the committee supports a safer, more informed, and more connected district for all.
