 T-Shirt Contest Rules, Guidelines and Application 

Design Guidelines

    1. The design should be inspired by the  LEATHER & LGBTQ Cultural District, its mission and work
    2. The design must  be on the front of the shirt, and it must have the four color Cultural District logo visible on the front of the design. 
    3. You may submit up to two designs.
    4. The design must be wholly original and not contain any material copyrighted by others, including images/copy found on the internet, including items published under a creative commons license. 
    5.  Designs will be judged on the following criteria: 
      1. Concept
      2. Originality 
      3. Striking and memorable design 
      4. Captures spirit of the District’s work
      5. Completeness of design – must be ready for print  

Design Specifications

All submissions should be provided in a high-resolution format (300 dpi or greater) that is compatible with Illustrator vector based files are preferred such as Illustrator (.AI) or Photoshop (.PSD). 

  1. The design should be contained within a 10”x12” area. 
  2. The design can be in color but color of the shirt will be black and this should be considered in the design.  
  3. The design must contain the following:
    1. District Logo. Please keep in mind the following for using the logo:
      1. Do not alter, redesign, redraw, modify, distort or alter the proportion of the District logo in any way. 
      2. Do not place a pattern over or otherwise obscure the logo. 
      3. Do not replace the colors of the logo.

    2. The District’s URL:

  4. We welcome and encourage including any of the following:
    1. The artist’s name or signature
    2. The year “2025”. 
    3. Our organization name, as “LEATHER & LGBTQ Cultural District”
  5. Along with your design, we ask you to upload:
    1. a name for your design (optional),
    2. a brief statement about the design (optional),
    3. a brief statement about yourself as a person and/or as an artist
    4. a headshot of yourself 

Submission Guidelines and Agreement

    1. Contest begins on January 15, 2025 and all entries must be submitted by 11:59 pm PST on April 1, 2025. 
    2. Entrants must be 18 years or older. 
    3. Entries deemed to not meet the eligibility criteria will not be included. 
    4. Entries will be posted on the District website as well as the District social media accounts. Designs will be voted on by members of the District to select three finalists.  
    5. Voting begins at 9:00 a.m. PST on Wednesday, April 2, 2025. 
    6. Voting ends at 5:00 pm on April 30, 2025. 
    7. Finalists will be notified by email on May 2, 2025. 
    8. The winning design will be chosen by the District T-shirt Contest Committee from among the three designs receiving the most votes.
    9. The winner will be notified by email when selected. 
    10. At the sole discretion of the District, disqualification, forfeiture and the selection of an alternate winner may result from any of the following: 
      1. winner’s failure to respond to email notice of selection 
      2. winner’s failure to provide original design files 
      3. winner’s failure to sign and return a release form 
    11. The winner will receive a $200 prize and will be announced on social media, in the Cultural District’s monthly newsletter, and at the contest reveal event (if held). 
    12. The winner will be profiled on the District social media accounts and with a special profile on the District website. The headshot and texts submitted with the entry will be used by the District for these promotional purposes. 
    13. The winning artist may promote the winning entry on their own media but agrees to include a link back to the district website or social media as part of the promotion. 
    14. The District reserves the right to reproduce and use the winning design in other formats including other merchandise, advertising, websites as it deems appropriate. The winner agrees to the use of their submitted artwork for these purposes and grants the District permission for reasonable use. 
      1. The District reserves the right to make adjustments to the winning design to accommodate usage and other requirements.
    15. By submitting your entry, you acknowledge that you have read and are agreeing to all contest rules.
