We exist to ensure there is a lively and vibrant home for our community of events, businesses, bars and organizations in SOMA.
What we do:
  • We keep SOMA Kinky and Queer by backing legislation, such as allowing bathhouses
  • We install public art like murals and leather pride flags on light poles
  • We create community gathering spaces to activate our artists, performers and makers
  • We provide an Entrepreneur Training Program for our community
  • We partner with local businesses and organizations to help them navigate City Hall and promote their events
  • We provide walking tours of historic SOMA locations.

Diversity & Membership Committees

Our “Membership and Diversity Committee” has evolved, and has been spun into two full-size committees, each with a full monthly workload:

Our Diversity Committee will focus on diversity, inclusion and equity, in  our organization and our community.  The Committee will guide efforts to increase District membership with an emphasis on representing all members of our community.  including;

    1. outreach to groups and gain attendance from all clubs and groups within our community
    2. ensuring our committees are functioning from a viewpoint of diversity in their structure and event planning.
  • The Diversity Committee meets on first Thursdays, 6-7pm
  • Contact diversity-chair@sflcd.org for more info, or to join the mailing list for this Committee.

Our Membership Committee will focus on benefits for individual and business memberships.  The Membership Committee guides efforts to increase District membership with an emphasis on representing all members of our community.

  • The Membership Committee meets on second Mondays, 6-7pm.
  • Contact membership-chair@sflcd.org for more info, or to join the mailing list for this Committee.

Members of the old “Membership and Diversity Committee” will, as a default, receive meeting announcements for both these new committees.  If you give us your email address here, we will send you an email with a customized link to let you adjust what mailings you receive from us.
