LEATHER & LGBTQ Cultural District Holiday Market
Saturday, December 14
SOMArts Cultural Center, 934 Brannan Street

  • Set-up Volunteers:
    • Provide physical assistance with our vendors to help them load their merchandize into the building
    • Assist with set up
    • Will require lifting of items and a lot of walking back and forth
    • Shift:  10:45 am to 12:00 noon
  • Greeters (Outside ushering folx in)
    • Dress in holiday festive gear to bring attention to folx passing on the street
    • Greet folx as they enter the Market, letting them know that this is a fair provided by the LEATHER & LGBTQ Cultural District
    • Give out Candy Canes
    • Share information about the District (you will have palm cards with information)
    • Shifts:  12 to 2, 12 to 4, 5 to 6 pm
      • 4-6 shift assists with tear down*
  • Outreach Booth
    • Warmly greet patrons who come to the booth
    •  Share information about the District and Play on the Plaza (palm cards available at the booth that lists what the District does!)
    • Encourage folx to join our newsletter as a means to know what is happening in the District!
    • Build positive relationships with community members
    • Sell bandanas/pins (Training provided by either Cal or Reika)
    • Shifts:  12 to 2, 12 to 4, 4 to 6 pm
      • 4-6 shift assists with tear down*
  • Gear Swap Helper
    • Assist our main point person (David Hyman) with coordinating sales, consignments and assistance with the Gear Swap
    • Handles money (You will be trained by David – this position is good for someone who intends to volunteer on-going at the Gear Swap booth as it does require training).
    • interacting with customers – assisting them with selecting and trying on items
    • Shifts:  12 to 2, 12 to 4, 5 to 6 pm
      • 4-6 shift assists with tear down*

*    Tear-Down Volunteers:

      • Perform physical tasks, including lifting and moving items
      • Assist vendors with tear down and moving their merchandize to their vehicles outside of the building
      • Assist with clean up to return the venue to its previous state
