Support the LGBTQ Museum

This month, San Francisco Mayor London Breed boldly proposed $12 million dollars in the city’s FY 2022 budget for the purpose of acquiring and developing a site for a new, full-scale museum of LGBTQ history and culture in San Francisco.

This is a project the GLBT Historical Society has been working on for many years. We need a larger, permanent home where we can preserve and share our incredibly diverse communities’ stories.

The LEATHER & LGBTQ Cultural District encourages your support for this line item in the mayor’s budget. Please sign onto the letter here no later than 12:00 noon on Thursday June 24 by completing the form linked at the bottom of the letter.

For more information about the GLBT Historical Society, its museum and archives, and other ways to support their work, please visit their Website here.

Scam Warning

It appears that someone posing as our Board President, Robert Goldfarb, is sending out emails asking people to buy gift cards and send pics of the cards with the code exposed.

This is a common type of scam.  No one associated with the Cultural District would ever ask anyone to do such a thing or wire money or anything of the sort.

If you’re getting these emails, please delete them.

Eagle Plaza More Visible

A bit more of Eagle Plaza has been revealed, as some of the construction equipment is removed.  You can now enjoy a portion of the broad sidewalk on the Eastern side of the Plaza:

Soon, we expect to see some landscaping added.

According to the sign on the front of the new 1532 Harrison Street building, below-market rental units will be available soon.  (Apply online by May 5, 2021 at 5:00 PM, at housing.sfgov.org)

,

You can even peer inside to see a part of what will, perhaps, be a cafe of some kind.  ( I originally thought it would be a restaurant called “La Cantina”, but I have since learned that that is just the name of the manufacturer of those nice glass windows.)

If you think you might want to live in the new building, you can learn more at https://www.liveathq.com/ .

Keep your eye on the Plaza!
