	I should say that I have experienced quite directly the need for the kinds of subsidiary funds I described ~ I have, in the past, volunteered for entrance into IMsL (serving two full volunteer positons, actually, just cuz I wanted to) while sleeping in a friend's van and surviving off of one giant chunk of Jarlsberg cheese and whatever I could scrounge from the con suite.  Admission is not the only expense that could present a barrier
