SUMMARY:LeatherWalk 2023
DESCRIPTION:LeatherWalk is the LEATHER & LGBTQ Cultural District’s annual SOMA celebration and march. \nWe walk together to celebrate leather\, kink\, family and community — all while raising funds for the LEATHER & LGBTQ Cultural District. LeatherWalk Kinky Boot Award to top fundraiser. \nParticipation is free\, optional donations support the Cultural District’s work to keep SOMA kinky & queer.  It’s fun\, the visibility is politically important\, and a great way to enjoy the neighborhood!  Organizations are invited to bring their banners and insignia. Self-expression is encouraged whether leather\, fetish gear\, or skin. \nWe will start walking at City Hall\, pausing for entertainment and beverages\, at favorite SOMA venues including: \n– Oasis\n– Powerhouse\n– Hole in the Wall\n– Azúcar Lounge\n– Folsom Street Community Center\n– Leather Etc.\n– Mr. S Leather\n– Lone Star Saloon \nWe will reflect on our community’s origins at the Blessing of the Leathers at the Ringold Leather History Alley\, and end at Eagle Plaza\, to raise the Leather Pride Flag\, as part of SF Eagle Bar’s Leather Pride Festival. \nLeatherWalk 2023 benefits the LEATHER & LGBTQ Cultural District\, keeping our SOMA neighborhood kinky and queer. \nAll are welcome to join the walk. DESCRIPTION:Join us on our walking tour: SOMA Origins: Bars\, Bathhouses and Beyond \nNow a world-wide leather/kinky/queer destination\, SOMA (South of Market) began attracting leather bars in the ’60’s. Find out why!\nLearn about the raucous exploits of the ’70’s when motorcycles lined the streets outside popular bars. \nHear about today’s bar and clubs and what they used to be\, including one on Folsom with a swimming pool. \nNext date:\nSunday\, September 17\, 2pm\nIf you are taking part in LeatherWalk\, you can join the tour after the Blessing of the Leathers at the Ringold Leather History Walk. \nTour starts at 9th and Ringold\, ends at 8th and Ringold in time to head over to the SF Eagle’s Sunday Beer Bust.\n90 minutes\, no hills. \nFree!
